‘The Psychology of Man’s Possible Evolution’ by P.D.Ouspensky
The author presents a surprising and anticipated view on evolution
“We have to try to find what we want within the period of time that we have been given by fate.”
Piotr Demiánovic Ouspensky was a notable Russian philosopher in the early decades of the twentieth century. After intense travels to the East where he searched for a new path beyond the academic science and philosophy of the times, he meets G.I. Gurdjieff and later becomes his disciple.
One of the main ideas is the claim that the common man is “asleep” and is behaving like a machine. He believes he “does things” but instead they simply “just happen.”
The author presents a surprising and anticipated view on evolution, which occurs through personal effort, in order to advance the permanence of the Self in consciousness and in its different levels and ranges.
A simple reading that challenges us towards inner growth and is within the framework of “a school and a teacher” and awakening; a concept that has been on the rise since 1985 and continues to constantly expand and spread throughout global society.
